Mens Engagement Rings

i’m looking for other mens advice here. Her and i got married a month ago, i didnt buy any rings and she never asked for one. yet when women find out we got married and ask to see her ring she shys away, hides her hands and leaves. but she never asks for a ring and when i mention she says its not important. my family and friends, her family and friends say she’s just not the type to complain about something like that and does not want me to feel bad. but we have both been married before and i dont see what all the excitement is about the 2nd time. we dated for 4 years and i have never bought so much as a card for her for anything. i did buy her a t-shirt one time and a bottle of nail polish. she has gotten used to not having and not being spoiled. why should i start a new trend because we said "i do". i did all that with my first wife and it got me nowhere but divorce court and a very greedy lazy ex-wife. this one works 60-70 hous a week, keeps her money, bills to herself
if she is working, keeping her bills, money, accounts and problems to herself, why do i want to spoil that, she is very independent. my first wife was not even the slightest bit like this one. i like this one better, the first one would not even put gas in the car for herself, i had to do that. so why does everyone make a big deal about a set of rings. i dont wear one and dont care, she doesn’t ask so why should i feel bad.
Ok to clear a few facts up I probably should have said earlier, my first marriage lasted 14 years but we were together 16 and hers was 10 years and they were together 14. i have 5 kids she has 4. we are not able to have any together. i am 47 she is 33 and the total love of my life.

It sounds like she wants you to buy a ring for her but doesn’t want to start an argument about it. Stop comparing her to your first marriage. You will get no where and fast if you keep doing that and you don’t want to lose a good thing.

About 2 weeks ago I was talking to my boyfriend about engagement rings. It was a totally random conversation that I has brought up due to a dear friend of mine recently becoming engaged. I mentioned how I would like to have a celtic knot as an engagement ring and he asked me where I would even find them and I named off a few stores around our area that might sell them.
Fast forward 2 weeks. We were out shopping and I saw a celtic knot ring that I liked but was a mens ring and much too big for me. My boyfriend then said 20 minutes later "oh, if you find a ring you like i’ll get it for you" A few hours later I find a ring and it was about 15 dollars sterling silver and PERFECT. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it.
It didn’t hit me until I got home about what I had said 2 weeks prior about wanting a celtic knot engagement ring. Maybe I’m looking too far into this. Maybe he just thinks of it as another peice of jewlery that I’ll wear. I just need some other opinons on this

I wouldn’t take it as an engagement ring. Guys tend to be very clear about commitment – so if it’s unclear, it’s probably just him being very sweet and wanting to make you happy.

My boyfriend and I have talked about marriage, we’ve been together 5 1/2 years. We’ve looked at rings online and discussed what we want. I know that they sell ring sets that have engagement ring, womans wedding band and mens band. But also sets with just 2 rings for the woman.

My question is would it look funny or odd if I have white gold rings and my boyfriend (husband) has a yellow gold one. I am not a fan of yellow gold, and he likes it better than any other metal rings typically come in. Is it customary for the rings to atleast be of the same metal?

The rings don’t have to match, and it will not stand out or look wrong. You can look up the history and significance of wedding rings at Wikipedia and see that the tradition of giving rings is ever-changing. So do whatever makes you both happy. After all, you have to be happy with the piece of jewelry that you will be wearing all the time, and so will he.

You can always get inscriptions with names, dates, initials, phrases, or whatever to show the symbolism of the day and persons to whom your hearts belong.

For pictures, as it is not uncommon to see photos of the hands intertwined in the wedding album, you could always go black and white if the contrast of white and yellow stands out too much. The photographer could even do this after the color picture has already been taken, if you so desire. Otherwise, it’s highly unlikely anyone will want to see your rings side by side.

We have found a ring my fiance really likes but he said I cannot buy it because it’s too expensive, this is the ring:

Anyway, I have a jeweller who made my engagement ring and did a fantastic job (I paid $2000 and got it appraised for $13,850 afterwards by a different jeweller!) if she can make one like that for him. She said she can make one but and recommends 0.85 carats or 0.5 carats , the prices were $850 for the 0.85 or $585 for the 0.5ct.
My fiance is saying to take the cheaper one but I am thinking, if the diamonds are smaller, then will the proportions of gold around the outside be different? Because I think it is the smallish framing of gold of this ring that makes it so attractive in the first place, and if we have smaller diamonds there would be more gold and it would look completely different right?? Or wrong?
No she did not, I ordered the ring from the USA and had it shipped to Australia where I took it to the best jeweller in our city for an appraisal. The jeweller who appraised it was amazed at the price I paid and said she could not even get the stones wholesale for that price
It’s not my money, I don’t work I look after our kids so he earns it and we like to agree with each other on all big purchases.

she could either do a ring of the same width with thicker framing or do a thinner ring
you have to talk to her about that
she may be able to sketch it out for you – but i’m sure she’ll listen to your feelings and find the best way of doing it for you
