My husband got me an engagement ring instead of a wedding ring,we have been married for nearly 5 years now and it hasnt really bothered me up untill now,but he has a nice wedding ring for himself and all i have is a cheap $80 most likley Cubic Zirconia Engagement Ring, ive told him that it is not a wedding ring but he seems to think its ok to wear.my nan thinks i should just go and by my own wedding band to wear with it,what should i do? i havent been wearing it ever since i had kids(puffy fingers etc) but i really wanted a proper wedding ring..
how should i ask him for one?
it’s starting to go black and dull looking, thats why im thinking i should have a better one that will last and one that is a proper wedding ring.
im just thinking that he will get all touchy about it like i only care about expensive things but thats not the case, just looking for an easy way around it.
he lost his and when he went back to his country for a holiday his dad bought him a new one.
Money has never been an issue for him,i think because he is indian he doesnt really understand what a proper wedding ring should be,even though i have told him many times..he thinks they are a waste of money.
i dont need a larger size,i just took it off during my final months pf pregnancy and just never put it back on,and he hasnt even said anything to me about it.
buy a plain GOLD (white gold is what I have for my engagement and after a few years I had to fix the rhodium plating because it looked dull and was no longer a brilliant white) or platinum band. You sound bitter though when you say "cheap most likely cubic zirconia"…you should talk to him. Do you guys have money problems? Tell him why it hurts your feelings. Don’t fight just have an open discussion and ask him if money is the reason etc.
Ozzie whatever the heck
White gold is an alloy(because there is no white colored gold in nature LOL) of gold and at least one white metal. DO YOU KNOW WHAT AN ALLOY IS???? LMAO
White gold needs upkeep because it is yellow gold mixed and dipped in rhodium for the white color. White gold is softer than platinum and gets easily scratched, and if used in abrasive chemicals often (dish soap counts) the rhodium coating kind of wears off after a while and looks a yellow tingey color.
White gold is an alloy made by adding metals such as nickel, palladium, and silver to pure gold. White gold may also be plated with rhodium to achieve a pale luminescence. The rhodium coating, however, eventually wears away and must be replaced every one to five years to maintain a brilliant white color. This process typically costs under $50 depending on the style and intricacy of the ring.
I wore my engagement ring nonstop for two years(in the shower, chemical labs(this is a no no!.. I believe this is what caused the rhodium to dull and against safety)) and doing dishes. It only cost like 25 bucks for the jewler to refinish it and it looked like new but YES white gold is an ALLOY. Please educate yourself. My ring was worth a lot of $$$ but I am not going to lie. Gold or Platinum if you want silver color(my wedding band) will last longer and won’t dull.
I got my ring with my fiance at a REPUTABLE store so pleeeassseeeee sweetie.
Just for your uneducated self ozzie read these

Have you ever or would you accept a Cubic Zirconia Engagement Ring?
Do you know how they hold up? Can the stone change if you wash your hands with it on? Would most people be able to identify that it is not real diamond. I am not extremely materialistic and I like simple, clean sleek things. Nothing too flashy
My boyfriend has been hinting about getting married. He asked unofficially if I would marry him if he asked. He asked what kind of jewelry and rings I would like. We also talked about getting a place soon and I am just getting back to work so I don’t want to waste a lot of money on a ring. I am happy as long as we are together. I wouldn’t mind if he got something less expensive for now and maybe in a few years when we can afford it we will upgrade. As long as people can identify that I am taken. As long as my finger doesnt turn green…lol. But that would be the metal not the stone. I found this site and I like this set http://www.almostdiamonds.com/brilliant-solitaire-cubic-zirconia-engagement-ring-set-p-1080018.html but I am looking for 18K white gold ring with CZ.
Can you give some advice? Thank you
Congratulations to the Brides to be!
The CZ is my idea. He is set on the diamond thing and has money saved up already towards down payment for house. I am thinking about the cars, current rent, household items, bills and everything else. I know my worth and so does he but I also see whats going on in the economy.
My engagement ring has a genuine diamond, but I know of plenty women who choose to wear cubic zirconia (or some of the nicer man-made diamonds) due to the worry over ethical mining and blood diamonds. My mother wears a beautiful CZ 1 carat instead of her original diamond because of this. They hold up very well. She’s had hers for mot of my life.
P.S. I think it’s fantastic that it was your idea. If he doesn’t feel especially comfortable with the idea, you could always tell him on a big anniversary it cold be replaced with a real diamond. I’ve heard of plenty of people doing this, and it;s very sweet =]
I told my mister well before he proposed, in a discussion after a friend of ours got engaged, that I hated big diamonds and liked around the 1/5 carat mark. Later I fell in love with a gorgeous ring (from Wal-Mart no less), and that was the VERY ring he chose for me without so much as a hint from me =] It cost, tax and all, $210. I’ve had it for a year and a half and it looks just as beautiful as the day he gave it to me. The band is 10kt, very sturdy (I’m hard on rings), yet delicate.
Here are some I found:

It’s been a few years since the Newlyweds split up, but there’s still a huge demand for the engagement ring that Nick Lachey gave Jessica Simpson! Post-divorce, Jess wore it on a chain around her neck, but before that it was one of the most talked about engagement rings in Hollywood.
Our faux version is every bit as dazzling, but at a fraction of the cost! A sparkling 4 carat, pear cut CZ diamond is framed by 1 carat pear cut stones on either side. Prong set in sterling silver, this beauty brings out the celebrity in all of us…

Looking for a 3/4 ct. emerald cut cubic zirconia ring in yellow gold. This will be my engagement ring at some point when we get the rest of the money saved up (bought the bands w/diamonds so far). Would like to get something that will look like my real ring when I get it so that no one can tell the difference & that way I can wear engagement ring now instead of waiting 9 – 12 months.
Bought the wedding bands with diamonds first because they were cheaper than the actual engagement ring. Going to look at loose diamonds end of the month so may buy a loose diamond if I can find one reasonably priced and have it mounted.
www.diamondessence.com is closed and not accepting any new orders

* Simple silver engagement ring features a brilliant 1.25 carat CZ stone.
* Four thick silver prongs hold the faux diamond securely in place.

You don’t have to insure it. If you lose it, you’re not broken hearted. As long as you aren’t trying to fool the fiance.
